The weather was cold and snowy outside in Charleston, West Virginia in late January, but the atmosphere within the Charleston Marriott Town Center was warm, sunny and full of life. The Town Center was hosting the PMI Region 5 Annual conference.
VersionOne had the opportunity to interact with Chapter Leadership from PMI’s Region 5, covering portions of Kentucky, portions of Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
We interacted with attendees and had a wonderful time getting to know the other friendly sponsors: GR8PM, a project manager exam preparation company, and Berry Dunn, a full service accounting and consulting firm with experience in a variety of industries.
The attendees were extremely eager to learn about our agile project management tool. We are no longer living in a world where, when you mention the word ‘agile’ to a project manager, he would give you a quizzical, puzzled look. Project managers now lean into conversations about agile, demonstrating anticipation and readiness to master this new mindset to deliver value to organizations.
Thank you to Brian Cochran and the rest of the leadership team for a fantastic Region 5 annual conference; they were responsive and accommodating in helping us reach our goal of bringing agile education to project managers.
We were thrilled to discover that many of the attendees held positions of influence within their organizations: Director of PMO, Senior Project Manager, PMO Lead.
The conversations with attendees were both deep and insightful. Many non-IT/software project managers wanted to hear of use cases, best practices for how agile can be introduced into the world of construction, manufacturing and transportation.
We look forward to the next opportunity to interact with the great folks at PMI’s Region 5.
